We took on the custom project of painting a road bike frame glow in the dark. We got the idea from a cool Blackberry commercial featured some awesome glow bikes.
So, we decided to go with Glow Inc. for the glow in the dark powder. We used the Ultra green 15-35m powder, 4oz size. We first prepped the frame then painted white. Here is a picture of the frame before priming:
Then, we mixed the glow powder with a clear base coat, which is in the first picture above. We gave the frame and wheels two coats. The frame was super glow in the dark right after we painted it and help a shop light to it for a few minutes:
glow in the dark bikeIt lights up the entire paint booth! Though, we put a clear coat with a UV protectant on top, and the first coat didn't show to much inhibit of the glow, but the second did. The bike still glows, but not like it did without. We have some videos we are making of the bike frame so you can see more details. For any questions, just comment!
This stuff is pretty cool too. You can attach it to your bike for a REALLY bright glow and it isn't super expensive.
